Futurewei IC Research conducts basic research in the fields of CPU architecture design, graphics rendering, machine learning, optics, and material science. We propose and validate novel ideas in RISC-V-based CPU architecture, microarchitecture, memory systems, and their modeling to improve the performance, power efficiency, and area of next-generation processor designs. Our team carries out fundamental research in machine learning and AI, discovering and applying new algorithms for automated design space exploration, multi-modal data representation and learning, as well as efficient support for memory-intensive workloads, large models, and long sequences. We develop innovative approaches in real-time rendering and generative graphics, media, and vision technologies, including generative AI-driven graphics and AR/VR systems.In material design and optical & image sensing, we explore cutting-edge technologies and emerging research directions.
